The ASPIE effect
I really must write these blogs more often but here’s a brief update as shared with the Autism Partnership Group at County Hall on 22 November where Owen made his first appearance. The first of many, I hope. ASPIE’s membership like Topsy just keeps growing and so do the successes of members, Richard, headhunted by a webdesign company in Oxford, Phil in full time employment for 2 years, Katy and James currently enjoying the Prince’s Trust team programme, Justin winner of the Intermediate Apprenticeship Award of the year, Matt M&S Regional Starter Achievement award, Patrick charming the customers at Waitrose, Lewis at B&Q, Nick B psychology at Birmingham Uni, Nick C writing, appearing and publishing and Vicky arranging for us to be invited to an important Coventry University training programme in January, etc etc. We’ve received community support from 3 Waitroses this year plus Sainsbury’s St Johns and now the Barbourne Co-ops. ASPIE AVENGERS shortlisted again, this time in the Fortis Awards with Beth and Andy attending a special dinner at the Worcester Arena. Our Christmas meal is always popular. With about 40 members signing up for Café Rouge we shall probably need the whole restaurant! Next initiative is the allotment. If anyone’s interested and can commit please let me know.
