ASPIE celebrates 14th birthday and our Art Exhibition moves to the Swan Theatre!

An even more hectic year with growing membership and increased activities. To promote awareness of the needs of autistic adults we’ve received visits from two mayors of Worcester, two High Sheriffs and only last week, Worcester’s MP Tom Collins. All were generous with their time, mixing and mingling with members.

We now have 20 players in our football Club, ASPIE Avengers which celebrated their 10th birthday in May, playing a charity match with students from Worcester University. They continue to play in Worcester Ability Counts League and WBA’s Sandwell Inclusion League.

Drama sessions continued with video clips appearing on our online Members Support Group and the Art Therapy Group have been busy creating artwork for our 4 exhibitions, the first at The Hive, the current at the Swan Theatre and others coming up in Malvern in the New Year and then No 8 in Pershore.

Members funding efforts included a sponsored walk, a charity quiz night, and a carboot sale. Other members hosted our stand at the Worcester show, Volunteer EXPO and the Careers Fair.

Claire, addressing all councillors at a public meeting at the Guildhall, spoke eloquently of the needs of adults on the spectrum receiving good publicity in the Worcester News.

Our birthday party, quizzes and games were enjoyed and we are now looking forward to Halloween.
